Using the vocabulary on the situations “In the forest”, “Rules of conduct on the water”, “Bird nests” students get acquainted with the lexical units and secure them in their minds. 14 color puzzle cards are parts of the game. The teacher hands out situation cards, they are signed, and then he reads out the poems (situation descriptions). Players should recognize their pictures according to the description, put the puzzle parts together, and explain why this cannot be done and what it leads to. In order to memorize the irregular verbs students should answer the question: what can you do?
Rules of the game: two or more people can be the players; the game in a group is advised.
1. Do not take out birds’ nests
Kids should remember and understand that they must not take out birds’ nests! If you see an egg in the grass or hear chicks twitting do not approach, do not interfere, and do not take out their nests ever!
2. Do not take out ant hills
Ants are forest doctors; it is not a surprise that people call them this way! Ants are on guard day and night to protect the forest from harmful larvae and beetles so that it was beautiful and healthy!
3. Do not take forest animals home
Forest is a sweet home for hedgehogs and squirrels; they live there in summer and in winter. They get some food there, bring up their kids there, and they do not want to leave their home; that is why you should not take animals home with you. Trust us, captivated, they will not eat and sleep well.
4. Do not harm forest insects
Moths, worms, and beetles live in the forest, Mother-Nature gave life to them, they all have things to do. If you meet them, do not hurt them, just step aside! Forest is lonely and empty without the insects, my friend.
5. Do not cull wild flowers
Flowers are decorations for forests and fields, but they are not just a décor: bees find bees find a healing gift in them and butterflies drink sweet nectar from them. Do not cull them pointlessly, my friends, do not make bunches of these flowers. Bunches will wilt, flowers will die, and there will be no beauty around.
6. Do not cull endangered flowers
There are rare, white, and tender flowers. Lilies of the valley and snowdrops will nod affably to you. But do not cull them, because the forest looks kinder and lighter with them. These flowers are endangered nowadays.
7. Do not catch butterflies and dragonflies
Color butterfly flutters over you, dragonfly is frisking, dancing, having fun. They all are flying so excited! Do not catch them, let them fly, and brighten the world!
8. Do not make noise in the forest
Forest has its own music. Will you listen to it, my friends! Birds are singing, squirrel is jumping up and down, grasshopper whirred suddenly, and woodpecker started rattling on the tree. You can hear so many sounds here and there and everywhere. No need in noise! Do not make noise, shout, and turn the loud music on.
9. Do not make fire in the forest without adults
If you are in the forest without adults it is no good playing with fire because the fun may finish with fire. Sometimes the forest is really dry and the small fire may turn into a disaster. Trees, beasts, and birds may die. Do not make fire when adults are not around.
10. Do not leave or bury the garbage in the forest
If you, guys, are camping it is very nice to have a good rest. You should play and run around, eat and drink well. But there are cans, flasks, and cellophane left around. Do not leave the garbage in the forest. Do not be lazy, pick it all up and take with you; garbage is alien to the forest.
11. Do not break glass in the forest
Do not throw glass in the forest. Do not break bottles here. Sharp shatters are dangerous, you may cut yourself with them, and you may even find yourself in a hospital because of them. Forest dwellers do not want glass shatters either.
12. Do not carve words on the trees
The giant trees are standing still, bullies do not pity them. They carve words on them with sharp knives “for long memory”! But it is a cruel thing to do. Do not hurt trees, let them grow in the forest and bring people kindness and beauty.
13. Do not spoil poisonous mushrooms
There are so many mushrooms in the forest, but do not touch the poisonous ones. Do not put them in your basket, but do not punch them with your feet either. Forest animals like foxes, hedgehogs, and hares need them. It is only people who do not eat them because there is poison in toadstools, and Amanita! But for forest animals these mushrooms are useful and tasty.
14. Do not root away mushrooms and currant shrubs
It is beautiful and sunny in the forest, there are many mushrooms there, they hide under the fur-tree, and invite mushroom gatherers to pick them up. Any mushroom gatherer must know that they should not root them out. Or otherwise there will be no edible mushrooms left on their way. Since you decided to gather some mushrooms take a sharp knife with you. With it you will be able to leave the root in the ground. And if you come across strawberries, red bilberry or blackberry shrub, gather the berries gently, but do not root away the shrub: in a year there will be as many berries on it.
