Topic: Is there any food?



Aims: Practical: - to revise pupils` vocabulary of the topic “Food”;

- to practice new words and word-combinations;

- to develop pupils` skills in speaking, reading, writing and lis-

tening.



Educational: - to develop a creative way of thinking;

- to teach pupils to cooperate in groups;

- to develop pupil`s quick reaction and ability to select necessary

words.



Cultural: -to teach pupils to respect other countries` customs and traditions;

- to provide pupils with more information about English meals tra-

ditions;

- to develop pupils curiosity and interest to the English language.







Equipment: someposters, flashcards, toys of food.





















Procedure.



I Introduction.

1. Greeting.T: Good morning, good morning,

good morning to you.

Good morning, good morning

I am glad to see you.



2. Phonetic drills. T: Tell me, please, what do you like to do every day?

Ps: Every day, every day little children like to play: Sunday, Mon-

day, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

T: What day is it today?

P1: Tuesday, the twenty-seventh of November.



3. Aim: T: What is the topic of the lesson today? Look at the picture,

listen and repeat after me:

A jar of jam is for little Sam.

A can of cola is for sister Nora.

A cup of tea is for me.

What about a piece of cheese?

Help me, please!



T: What are common words? P 2: a jar. P 3: a can of cola.

P 4: tea. P 5: cheese.

T:What is the poem about?

P6 : Food.

T: So, guess, what is the topic of the lesson today?

Ps: Food.

T: Today you`ll speak about the food you like and go to the shop to buy

something, because all living beings can`t live without eating.





II The main part of the lesson.
1. Warming up. T: Where do we buy food?

P7: At the shop.

T: All people going shopping.

T: Let`s get ready to go shopping. What are you going to

buy? Cards below help you to remind, what you can buy.





Look at these cards and name the pictures:



(the teacher shows the cards with the picture of vegetables, fruit.)



Class: a carrot, a potato, a beet, a cabbage, a cucumber, a tomato.

T: What are they?

Cl: vegetables T: You are right.

T: Name the pictures:

Cl: an apple, an orange, a cherry, a plum, a lemon, a banana.

T: What are they?

Cl: fruit

T: So, do you eat fruits and vegetables? Cl: Yes, we do.



2. Check up the homework. T: We have to make a list of food, we are going

to buy.



a) Game “Translators” T: Check up your homework for today.

group-work Let`s see, how have you learnt new words and

combinations, which help you to do the tasks below.

There are three commands in the class. Who is the wittiest? For

every right word you`ll get one point. Who wants to be a judge?



(A judge counts the points on the blackboard.) T: Translate from English into Russian:

A pie, a honey, a glass, a burger, sweets,

flour, a bottle, a pack, a bar, a jar, a can.

T: Let`s see what score have you got?

Pupil-judge: The first team has got … .

The second team has got … .

The third team has got … .



b) Ball-play. T: vice versa

Translate from Russian into English:

Мука, деньги, стакан, шоколад, мед,

сметана, пирог, пачка, банка, сумка, упаковка.

T: Well done!



3. Writing Practice. T: Let`s play a game.

a) Task 1(presentations) Words are broken. Put the letters in a right order.







b) Task 2 T: Match the words with the pictures.



c) Task 3 T: Put “plus” if you agree, put “minus” if you

disagree.



d) Task 4 T: If you hear a vegetable – clap one, if you hear a

fruit- clap 2 times, if you hear other thing-clap

3times.



Vegetables: a potato, a cucumber, a tomato, a carrot, a cabbage.

Fruits: a lemon, an orange, a banana, an apple, a pear.

Groceries: flour, chocolates, sweets, honey.





e) Task 5 T: You have got a basket. Write what food can you buy?

Put a piece of paper into this basket.















P 1: Apples, lemonade, lemon, sugar.

P 2: Sweets, burger, bottle of milk, bananas.

P3: Coca-cola, chocolate, pie, pears.



4. Physical training activity: T-Cl: Head and shoulders, knees and toes.

5. Role-play.

( toys of the play) T: Imagine that you are a shop assistant. The other pupil

wants to buy some food and drinks. Take your basket



with the lists of food and go to the shop.



P 1: Can I help you?

P 2: Yes, please. Have you got a bar of chocolate\ _?

P 1: Yes, we have.

P 2: Is there any apple\_?

P 1: Yes, there is. Anything else?

P 2: I want a pear\_.

P 1: Here you are.

P: Thank you. Good-bye!











III Summarizing.
1. Summary. T: You`ve worked hard today. What have you done at the

lesson?

P 1: Read. P 2: Write. P 3: Play.

T: What is common in all these tasks?

P 4: Topic.
T: What is the topic of the lesson?

P 5: Food.

T: Who was the best? Class: variants

T: I agree with you.



2. Homework.

p.65, ex. 4

“Project”. T: Make up the list of food you can buy in the shop at home

and draw it.

Speak about what there is on the list.
