You all have cards with sentences on them. Read them and find your team. Which word is the same in all these sentences? Tell me the theme of our lesson. Today at the lesson we shall work on vocabulary, grammar (prepositions of place, constructions there is/are), text and listening. Also we shall watch your projects “The House of My Dream”. Tell me the purpose of our lesson. The sentences on your cards are English proverbs about home. Match English proverbs with correct translations. Work in teams. You have 30 seconds. Let’s check up! Today at the lesson for every correct answer you will get a red sticker, for an answer with 1-2 mistakes – a green sticker, if you make many mistakes you will get a blue sticker. III. Этап работы над новым материалом. 40 минут | 7) Now every team will get one of these pictures. You should describe the room but don’t show the picture to other teams. Then you will read your texts and other teams must say what picture it is. 8) Do you know anything about British homes? Let’s read the text. But first the vocabulary. British Homes There are 22 million homes in Britain — big homes and small homes, old cottages and new buildings, houses and flats. (Americans say "apartment" but British people say "flat"). Many British people love old houses and they are often more expensive than modern ones. Two third of the families in Britain own their houses. Millions of these houses are the same with two or three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, dining-room and kitchen downstairs. They also love gardening and you will see gardens near the houses in towns and villages. Some are very small with just one tree and a few flowers. Others are enormous with plenty of flowers and enough vegetables and fruit trees. There are a great many different kinds of homes in Britain, but there are not enough! It is often very difficult for young people to find a home when they want to start a family. British homes are usually smaller than American homes. But like Americans old people, young families and unmarried people do not usually live together. - Read the sentences with the information new for you. - Find in the text sentences expressing the same things: There are many different homes in Britain. The British prefer to live in their own houses. Usually there are 2 floors in the house. The British like to grow flowers. Young people have problems with getting homes. - Answer the questions. 1.
